Manchester united have completed the loan signing of Sofyan Amrabat.

Erik ten Hag identified the Fiorentina midfielder as a key target but has had to wait until the final hours of the transfer window to land a player who impressed during the World Cup last year.

The 27-year-old worked with Ten Hag during their time together at Utrecht, but he will have to wait until after the international break to make his debut and is ineligible to play against Arsenal on Sunday.

Hampered by a Financial Fair Play restrictions and a lack of investment from the Glazers, United had to dig deep to secure the signing of Amrabat who had been attracting rival interest from Fulham.

United’s chief transfer negotiator, Matt Hargreaves, was dispatched to Florence on Friday morning

It is a huge honour to become a Manchester United player. I’ve had to be patient for this moment but I’m someone who always listens to my heart and now I am representing the club of my dreams,’ Amrabat said after completing his move to United.

‘I am a passionate player; I want to bring that energy to the squad, and I will put everything into every action I take for the team.

‘I know exactly how Erik ten Hag likes to work and what he needs from his players.

‘His coaching and guidance developed me so much as a player earlier in my career

‘I know that he will help to bring out the best of my abilities so that I can help the group to be successful this season.’
